What are active voice and passive voice?

ACTIVE voice is when the subject performs the action.

It is direct, more effective, and less wordy than passive voice.

EXAMPLE: Jane wrote her informative essay on her computer.

PASSIVE voice is when the subject is being acted upon.

It is indirect, less effective, and wordy compared to active voice.

EXAMPLE: The informative essay was written by Jane on her computer.
