Research philosophy is the system of beliefs and assumptions that underpin the development of knowledge (Saunders, Lewis, & Thornhill, 2015). Qualitative studies devote less space to the procedure and more to the description; through the presentation of numerous specifics, the qualitative account shows how the concrete facts of the situation fit the explanation proposed. Business and management scholars have spent long decades debating whether this multiplicity of research philosophies, paradigms and methodologies is desirable, and have reached no agreement. Instead, two opposing perspectives have emerged: pluralism and Unificationism. Unificationists see business and management as fragmented and argue that this fragmentation prevents it from becoming more like a scientific discipline.Qualitative studies are much more likely to describe that action and leave room for interpretation and choice. The idea to work on the qualitative method and later when time allows me to followed by the mixed method. The subject of my thesis is related to social media and digital business. Since the digital business field is recent and has a bright future in organization’s management.
The positivist paradigm of exploring social reality based on the philosophical ideas of the French Philosopher August Comte. According to him, observation and reason are the best means of understanding human behavior; true knowledge is based on an experience of senses and obtained by observation and experiment. At the ontological level, positivists assume that the reality is objectively given and is measurable using properties which are independent of the researcher and his or her instruments; in other words, knowledge is objective and quantifiable.
