Answering questions and respond to two other students responses

Your Everyday Interactions

In this world we live everyday with various kinds and degrees of relationships. Relationships in every way kind and fashion. You and the server at the fast food counter, you and your professor at school, you and the other people on the freeway that you spend time in traffic with trading traffic signals, you and your grandparents, you and your siblings, you and your business clients, you and your spouse or significant other. You have relationships, with service people, other students, people at your church, at your work, at a wedding, at a funeral, and even at a football game where you have like minded fans for one team and fans for the other team supporting the favorite team. A result of all these different kinds of daily relationships is our behavior and demeanor changes. These changes happen because of the environment we are in, or, the Culture of the environment, place or situation that you find yourself in.

Think about your interaction all day long and the nature of these interactions.

Most of the time we can categorize our behavior in three different ways:

Personal Performance – Your immediate interactions with family, friends, co-workers, everyday strangers where the way a person engages these individual changes based on the differing elements of relationship, need, desire, function, environment, social codes, cultural ques etc.

Community Performance – Those places where you are seen and engage in corporate or organized interactions like church, school, work, weddings, funerals, or sports where a persons behavior, interactions and the way one wants to be seen or is seen is based on the nature of the situation and expectations of the environment there.

Professional Performance – Those places where you are having to be seen specifically and maintain specific behavior rules and decorum. Examples, Teachers, athletes, actors, doctors, lawyers, politicians, community leaders, etc.

Think about your behavior and the way you interact with the people you come into contact with every day. All of the people, leave no one out in the course of your day.

How do you think or feel your behavior or attitude changes based on who you come into contact with over the course of a day?

***First student response (CD):***

How do you think or feel your behavior or attitude changes based on who you come into contact with over the course of a day?

My behavior and attitude change over the course of my day quite frequently depending on who I come in contact with because I behave differently according to the different social circles and environments that I come in contact with.

Can you recognize different places over the course of the day where you may have

Personal Performance?

I feel most like my true self around my closest groups of friends as well as my family. It is with them that I feel I do not have to put on a performance for and do not have to maintain a persona of sorts.

Community Performance?

Through the course of my week, school, the gym, and being out in public in general is when I feel I put on this much more reserved performance. I generally keep to myself and just go about my own business rather than be my usual outgoing and quirky self.

Professional performance?

When I am at my job, internship, or in the company of those whom I respect is when I generally put on my professional performance. This entails an entirely different posture than the one that I normally keep, much clearer articulation, and I even noticed that quite often I speak in an entirely different manner than that of my personal performance.

***Second student response (AJ):****

How do you think or feel your behavior or attitude changes based on who you come into contact with over the course of a day?

I think my behavior changes based on who I meet through the day by switching gears rapidly. It changes by the way I act, speak, and my body language. This is something I want to work on because sometimes I do not know what to do in a certain situation. For example, I never learned what is proper dinning and I was put in a situation where I embarrassed the people who I was with.

Can you recognize different places over the course of the day where you may have

Personal Performance?

In my personal life, my behavior is to be more relaxed and be more laid back since I am dealing with my relatives and friends. Our attitude towards each other has a respect but also a way to not take everything too seriously.

Community Performance?

As a community, it would be a monotone because I want to show that I am approachable but also stick with the rules. This is something I practice with my classmates.

Professional performance?

In a professional setting, I am professional by showing respect to everyone around me. My behavior towards another would be by speaking in respect and also showing that I am motivated to be there. I also try to perform more so that I can show that I am grateful to be there.
